1955 New Yorker Convertible
1955 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible
In 1955, Chrysler Corporation redesigned its entire lineup – and that of its other controlled companies (Dodge, DeSoto and Plymouth) to incorporate the new “Forward Look” (sound familiar?). The brochures of the day also boasted that Chrysler products had the “100 Million Dollar Look”—alluding to the cost of retooling the body stamps for this new look. The 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible was the first car in the new Third Generation.
She has a “Hemi” under the hood that produces 250 horsepower – quite a lot for the day. The Burt Collection recently finished a cosmetic restoration on this ultra rare beauty (only 980 were made in 1955).

I've been involved with the February discovery and subsequent authentication of Ernest Hemingway's 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe Convertible outside Havana, Cuba. I'm in nearby Oak Park and I'd like to stop out and take a look at your '55 and talk a little about your restoration process. I can also share some background on the Hemingway Chrysler; it's fascinating. Let me know how we can arrange this. Best wishes.

Bill, I'm not sure if anyone has responded, but we'd love to have you stop by to see the New Yorker. Coincidentally, my wife and I lived in Oak Park. My inlaws still do. Please call me. Paul 847-816-1300
