1965 Biscayne
1965 Chevrolet Biscayne
One of our magazine cars – this 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne is one of the rarest cars in the collection. But you wouldn’t know it by looking at it. She is one of only 20 built and one of only 2 remaining. The motor makes it rare – it’s a 409 cubic inch Big Block, putting out 400 horsepower. And this is in 1965. The 409 was also phased out this year and production of the motor was halted in July of that year. She maintains her original 4-speed transmission, wind-up windows and bench seat. What makes this Biscayne unusual is the original rear end. To put 400 horsepower on the ground, most hot rodders would have opted for larger tires and, perhaps, a different rear end. Notice that there are no side view mirrors. They were “factory” removed to save weight.
