1970 Wildcat Convertible
1970 Buick Wildcat Convertible
1970 marks the official end of the muscle car era – as all manufacturers had to restate their horsepower figures and, due to unaffordable consumer insurance rates on high horsepower vehicles, buyers were drying up. And so began the intrusion of the government into our daily driving pleasures.
This 1970 Buick Wildcat might well typify the very pinnacle of the muscle car passion. This vehicle was among the rarest of the 1960s and 1970s Buicks. Back in the day it cost $4,079 and output reached just 1,244 units. Its 455 cubic inch motor boasted 370 horsepower. She was at home on the drag strip as well as at the country club. Truly she was a gentleman’s hot rod and a top down delight on any given sunny day. Our car is extremely rare in its triple white configuration – only Custom trim was offered for the final year. There is room for 6 people (or 10 really small people) to enjoy a Sunday ride. What more is there?
