1976 Interceptor III
1976 Jensen Interceptor III
As we’ve seen in the 1959 Facel Vega in our showroom, this is another foreign car with a venerable Chrysler motor. This time the 440 TNT engine. There were only 41 Jensen Interceptor Convertibles made in 1976 making this one rare luxury car. 1976 was the last year for the Jensen Interceptor.
The Jensen Interceptor was a sporting car hand-built in the United Kingdom between 1966 and 1976. The car’s body was made of steel and designed by outside Italian firm Carrozzeria Touring, breaking with Jensen Motors tradition. The engine was a Chrysler V8. The Mark II was announced in October 1969 with revised frontal styling and vented disc brakes. The Mark III of 1971 had revised seats, fully cast alloy wheels, and other improvements.
In 1976 this car retailed for $25,000 at a time when a Corvette retailed for only $8,000.
