1978 280 Z
1978 Datsun 280 Z
We are undertaking a complete restoration of this incredibly rust-free 1978 Datsun 280 Z. No part will be untouched. We painted one front fender to display the original color – a brilliant silver. In 1975 Datsun changed the name of the car from a 260 to a 280 (originally a 240 when introduced) to reflect the larger motor and the addition of fuel injection. We prefer the 280 Zs for their reliability. 240s and 260s were carbureted. Seemingly all Datsun Zs rusted — virtually the same year they were made. This was truly a design and manufacturing flaw. We found our car — literally — in the Arizona desert. It was horribly faded — even the steering wheel had melted. The Burt Collection owns two 280Z’s now and plans to specialize in the restoration and sale of these great cars.
