The Burt Collection is proud to offer another fine, fully restored, 1971 Mercedes Benz 280SL, 113 Pagoda. In 1971 Mercedes Benz made only 830 280 SL convertibles. This example also features the rare factory "frigiking" factory air conditioning system. This car was subjected to a very intensive cosmetic restoration. Prior to the restoration we carefully selected this car because of it's rust free body and undercarriage. Pagoda's are prone to rust and this one was virtually exempt.
Here is a short list of the items replaced/restored during the restoration - New black leather interior ($4000) New Carpet set ($500) New Canvas Convertible Top ($900) New Steering Wheel ($500) New Bumpers, Front and Rear ($2000) New Grill (reproduction) ($1200) New Windshield Rubber ($400) New Sun Visors ($400) New Tires ($1000) New Chrome Rims ($2000) New Wood Set ($1200) New Heater Control Levers ($200)- very difficult to install, the entire dashboard was removed New Door Sills ($600) The installed the original radio during the restoration. New Paint was painstakingly lavished on the car in the original Mercedes silver. New Exhaust System ($1200) New Chrome Exhaust Tips ($250) New Door Panels ($500) There are many new NOS parts that had been purchased to restore this car to it's full potential - too many to list. Needless to say, the restoration was not inexpensive. The car is in excellent restored condition. We found the car in a storage facility - and cannot attest to the original nature of it's mileage. But during the restoration everything was either restored, replaced or refurbished to better than new condition.
She drives as well as any 280 SL that we have owned, and we've owned many. These are my favorite collector cars - as they are rising in value in a decidedly down economy. It's there is a star in the grill - it's a keeper - and a blue chip investment. We've added the NADA pricing on this car below - and it's conservative. Our price, of course, is lower - but the car cost nearly as much to restore. She'll make a fine investment and a wonderful driver and show car. We may have the original steel rims available. However the car has no hubcaps. Also, this car was purportedly ordered as a "roadster" - which meant that no hardtop was available. We'd be happy to provide additional information and/or digital pictures upon request. |
